welp…you have to try to open a website with alot of links. This way, you can advertise once and then, they will all get some sort of hits. And if someone like one or two of them, you make out. The reason why affilite programs are out there is because some of them are really difficult to market. Or the marketing will cost more then the sales coming in. So, these companies would give you a chunk of their pay …and in exchange you would do the marketing for them….OR companies want to increase sales, and so they give you the chance to sell something for them…and in return they give you a chunk of their revenue…..Um, I would just pick like some products that kinda match each other, and put it all on one website..Then I would advertise that website….Like, excercise equipment. We would do excercise equipment, vitamins, all sorts of gadgets, sportswear, weight gainer, etc etc. And then, you would get business cards with your website on it, and pass it around…And maybe try do adwords…and start paying per click, etc etc….
As far as the investing part, I would rather you do alot of it as labor, then start dishing out right away. That is to manually pass out business cards, join clubs on the internet, and start advertising there, and then, going to shows that match your products, etc etc,….and then, you can start very slow on adwords…pay as little as possible and slowly move up…..
If you know how to build webpages, you can pretty much do everything without having to pay any fees at all.
If you don’t, then you can still get into affiliate marketing by creating a free blog and start writing content. Then you would need to signup at affiliate network sites such as CJ.com, or even Google Adsense. After you select that, you’ll need to drive traffic to your site.

The best affiliate programs are the ones that give you good promotional material, not just banner ads, but brandable eBooks and reports for example where you imbed your affiliate link inside and ones that give you specific step-by-step instructions on how to promote.
